Tyce Shideler's years
of research and writing have produced a guide to the history of
anthropology that will prove indispensible to students and teachers
alike. Comprehensive in scope and meticulous in organization, Chains of Tradition
captures the evolution of this most human of sciences through
portraits of the people — and their ideas — who contributed to it. |
“This
textbook is an erudite, yet highly accessible introduction to the
history of anthropology that I wish I’d had on my shelves while I was a
student. It is thoughtfully arranged with an eye for historical detail
and provides critical commentary on key theoretical concepts and
thematic debates. Shideler has written an immensely engaging volume
that will be of great interest and value to both students and
established scholars alike. He speaks clearly to the future of
anthropology while never losing site of its past.” - Robert A. Farnan, Chiang Mai University |
